The Pilates Method
The Pilates Method is a movement technique performed in a sequence, either on a floor mat or on specially designed spring-resistant equipment invented by Joseph H. Pilates. It is a full-body conditioning program, injury preventative program, and rehabilitative therapy.

Emphasis is placed on centering the body and developing strength of the abdominal and torso muscles. The Pilates Method consists of a sequence of carefully performed movements, some carried out on specially designed equipment that use springs as resistance. Each exercise is designed to strengthen and stretch the muscles involved, opening the joints and releasing tension.

The sequence, when done repetitively, helps your body perform and function better due to an aligned, strong, and supple structure. The end result is a well-toned, strong body with improved postural alignment and flexibility, able to move more efficiently with better coordination, balance, and grace.
